With the new school year on the horizon, the College of Health & Human Performance has several important updates and exciting news to share, including the formation fo two departments and new department chairs.
This summer, Dr. Mildred Maldonado-Molina joins HHP as the new Health Education & Behavior department chair. She comes to the college from the Department of Health Outcomes & Biomedical Informatics at the UF College of Medicine where she is an Associate Professor and Director of the Family Data Center.
This summer, Dr. David Vaillancourt moves into his new role as the Applied Physiology & Kinesiology department chair. He joined UF and APK in 2011, and in addition to the role of professor, Vaillancourt served as director of the Center for Exercise Science and vice-chair for the department.
Amy R. Mobley, Ph.D., associate professor and graduate coordinator in the Department of Health Education & Behavior, received the Nutrition Education and Behavioral Science RIS Mid-Career Award supported by Abbott Nutrition.
In partnership with the Walt Disney World Company, the 手机赌钱游戏平台’s College of Health & Human Performance now offers an expanded selection of online master’s degrees to Disney employees. Master’s degrees in Tourism and Recreation Management, Applied Physiology and Kinesiology and Health Education and Behavior will join the Bachelor of Science in Sport Management as online degrees eligible for 100 percent tuition coverage under Disney Aspire.
On Sunday, May 5, the College of Health & Human Performance recognized degree recipients in the Stephen C. O’Connell Center. Dean Michael Reid, Ph.D., presided over the ceremony for Spring 2019 graduates in the departments of Applied Physiology and Kinesiology; Health Education and Behavior; Sport Management; and Tourism, Event and Recreation Management.
On April 12, 2019, Robert Leeman, Ph.D., associate professor in the Department of Health Education & Behavior, was named the inaugural Mary F. Lane Endowed Professor which will be housed in HHP in perpetuity.
On Monday, April 8, Brittany Schambow, academic advisor in the Department of Health Education & Behavior, was selected as UF’s Professional Advisor of the Year. This award is a testament to Schambow’s outstanding student advising and commitment to professional development.
On Monday, March 4, President Fuchs and Vice President Jodi Gentry celebrated staff legacies at the 手机赌钱游戏平台 with 25 years or more of service. The College of Health & Human Performance has eight staff members with 25 years and counting.
The first “Stand-Up and Holler: Gator Nation 给 Day” was held on Tuesday, February 26, 2019. On this day, Gators from around the world donated to various causes across UF and in support of the College of Health & Human Performance.
UF Online has risen to No. 5 in the 2019 rankings by U.S. 新闻 & World Report for the best online programs in the country, up from No. 12 in 2018. This ranking includes the College of Health & Human Behavior online bachelor degrees in Health Education and Behavior, and Sport Management.
